McMain Secondary School student raped & robbed:

The victim was abducted at gunpoint in the
1600 block of Nashville Avenue, she was
transported via the white 4 door sedan to Walnut
& Leake Avenue, at that point she was sexually
assaulted in the vehicle. The victim was then
transported to General Pershing and South Prieur
Streets, again sexually assaulted in the vehicle.
The victim was transported to South Broad and
Palmyra Street where she was robbed of cash and
released.
The subject fled in the car on Palmyra Street
from Broad towards South Claiborne Avenue.

While we are happy to note that a suspect has been apprehended we are disappointed and saddened that members of the student body were not informed about this incident by TUPD – rather, an email containing this article was forwarded to me by a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, who learned about the attack when this article was circulated on her sorority list serv. While this attack may not concern a Tulane student in particular, it occurred in areas where students live off campus. We believe that we should be informed about incidents like this by TUPD.

About It's Not Enough

We are Tulane students who appreciate the effort TUPD gives to protect us, but believe that it is inadequate. Given the amount of assaults, robberies, burglaries and other types of crime that surrounds the Tulane Campus, we need more from TUPD. Simply put, it's not enough.
